The NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME-NSS Unit of Holy Cross College & School of Nursing forms a linkage between college and Community.It is a student centered programme complementary to education. It inculcates the spirit of voluntary work among students and teachers through community interaction. It brings academic institution closer to the community. It awaken the social consciousness among students by providing opportunities to work with people creatively and put the education they receive to concrete social use. It’s aim is to provide service to the society without any prejudice in order to mould their personality through community service. The motto of our NSS unit is “to serve humanity through the principle of love care and share”.
Objective :
- Enable the students to understand the community in which they work.
- To identify the needs and problems of the community
- To develop among themselves sense of social and civic responsibility
- To apply their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems
- To develop competence required for group living and sharing responsibilities.
- To gain skills in mobilizing community participation
- To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude
- To develop capacity to meet emergencies and national disasters
- To practice national integration.
